November 2026
Welcome to our November newsletter. October brought a recovery in Australian shares, an early US rally that gave way to a month-end decline, and a further weakening in Australian housing. The ASX 200 finished above September’s close, while the S&P 500 finished below it. Cotality’s November release recorded a seventh monthly fall in national dwelling values, with Brisbane weakest and Darwin strongest among the capitals. September inflation data released in October showed annual headline CPI rising to 4.3%. After month-end, the RBA announced a further rate increase on 3 November, taking the cash-rate target to 4.85% from 4 November. Together, these results show the pressure borrowing costs and inflation place on households and asset markets.
